Make 2017 Your Best Year Yet with an Annual Plan – PART 2

Many businesses have been in business 3, 8, 12, or more years, yet each year is a repeat of any other prior year.  Why?  Because everyone is so caught up in the day to day work of the business (working IN the business) that they don’t take the time to step back and take an assessment of where the business is  and intentionally do things differently to move forward toward the vision for their business (working ON the business). 

Picking up where we left off last week where we discussed Leadership …….

Brand –

  • On a scale of 1 (least positive) to 10 (most positive), how would you rate the effectiveness of your company’s brand?
  • Make a list of what you think is needed to make this a 10.
  • Does your company have an effective and comprehensive sensory package that attracts your primary target market?
  • Have you introduced your unique value and commitment to your customer with your employees? Are your employees clear about how it impacts their position and the overall experience with your customers?
  • Do you have a marketing strategy that is creating brand recognition with your target markets?

Finance –

  • On a scale of 1 (least positive) to 10 (most positive), how would you rate the financial health of your company?
  • Make a list of what you think is needed to make this a 10.
  • Are you getting the financial reports you need and do you trust the validity of the information they contain?
  • Do you have ongoing, effective financial management systems for annual budgets, cash management and tracking of key financial indicators?
  • Is your company regularly achieving its financial targets?

Management –

  • On a scale of 1 (least positive) to 10 (most positive), how would you rate your management ability and the effectiveness of the other managers in your company?
  • Make a list of what you think is needed to make this a 10.
  • Do you have a fully realized organization chart and detailed position descriptions for all positions on the chart?
  • Have you and your staff adopted a systems strategy for producing predictable results and fostering innovation?
  • Do you and your managers know how to mentor employees and develop productive working relationships?
  • Do you have recruiting and hiring process in place that ensure you are getting the best possible person for every vacant position?
  • Is the management culture in your business one that encourages employees to be fully engaged and highly self-motivated?
