Center for Lifelong Learning: History of Cumberland Homesteads
April 19, 2017 @ 12:00 pm - 1:30 pm CDT
FreeCome learn about the Cumberland Homesteads featuring historical photographs from the Homesteads Tower Museum’s collection of the early days of the Cumberland Homesteads New Deal Community’s development. The building of the community and Cumberland Mountain State Park had a significant impact on Cumberland County during the hard times of the Great Depression.
Today, the community is the largest historic district in Tennessee. It is an important part our county’s tourism industry and a source of pride in the heritage of our region.
We will also highlight the Cumberland Homesteads Tower Association’s role in preserving the community’s unique history over the last 30 years, the challenges that we face today and our plans for the future.
